Best Practices
- Be sure your media is appropriately sized for the channel Links to an external site. on which you are posting.
- Use your district's colors.
- Verify that the color of the text contrasts enough Links to an external site. from the color of the background to make it legible.
- Keep in mind that many people view social media on their phones, so any included text in the artwork needs to be easily read on a small screen.
- Consider posting a video. Videos support storytelling and increase engagement because they hold the viewer's attention better than a static image. Platforms favor videos in the algorithm which results in a longer shelf life, so more people like and share it. Some content ideas include:
- A video generated by animated elements or timed pages, but containing no video footage
- A video of the teacher(s) being surprised as they are presented with the honor
- A video of the teacher(s) sharing WHY they choose to be a teacher, WHAT their favorite thing is about teaching and HOW they’d describe what it feels like to help students learn and grow
- A video of a student sharing why their teacher deserves to be recognized, why they enjoy being a student in this teacher's class, why teachers are important
